Correa warns to detain those who call loudly for help
President Rafael Correa has warned at least twice during his tour yesterday through Esmeraldas, to arrest those who ask for help shouting in the streets, six days after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the coast of Ecuador and resulted in the death of about 600 people dead more than four thousand wounded, according to official figures
Later, the cameras also captured him explaining: “… water is the least necessary thing, we have dozens … ok, let me talk, brother, hey, sir, we are in a national emergency. Everybody keep calm here, if someone shouts I´ll send that person to jail, whether is old, young, a man or a woman, nobody can mourn or complain for the lack of certain things, except for the loved ones they have lost, here comes the water, that´s not a problem, we have dozens of tankers, we have a ship coming with thousands of gallons, and food, there is no problem with that, wait a little bit.”
