This sector sales grew 9% last year, compared to 2011, as reported by the Ecuadorian Association of companies of cosmetics, hygiene and absorbent products (Procosmeticos).

The President of Procomesticos, María Fernanda León, points out that in the country more than 50 million of cosmetic products are used since these contribute to health, hygiene and well-being.

Leon says that 98 of every 100 Ecuadorian households make use of at least five cosmetic products of everyday use, including soap, deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo and fragrance.

According to the records of Procosmeticos, in Ecuador there are 35 companies of cosmetics, 20 national and 15 foreign, as Belcorp which includes brands like L’bel, Ésika and Cyzone which are in high demand in the country.

On the other hand, from 24 to 27 October will be held in Guayaquil the beauty Expo 2013 at the Convention Center, where the cosmetic industry will present the trends in the national and international markets of cosmetology, make-up, hairdresser, manicure and pedicure.
