Counter-narcotics chief denies ‘control’ of the Sinaloa cartel

Posted On 08 Dec 2012

While recognizing that anti-drug operations carried out in Ecuador could  involve Mexican drug cartels, the Sinaloa specifically, Counter-narcotics police chief, Juan Carlos Barragan, categorically denied that the criminal organization known by that name, ‘rules’ in the country, as  published by Colombian magazine Semana, last Thursday.

The police chief, clearly upset, said the magazine should clarify whether the cartel “sends drug” or rules as “chief” in Ecuador, which in both cases is false. He said that according to reports from the United Nations (UN), this country is not a drug manufacturer.
