Crime of disappearance was not included in the new Criminal Code

Last Saturday the regime leader, Rafael Correa announced that would criminalize the disappearance. However, the Alianza PAIS block (AP) did not included in the first book of the violation of the Code of Criminal Integral (COIP), which was approved Tuesday in the assembly project.

During his Saturday broadcast Correa said the new code included the offense by disappearance of persons with inalienable characteristic, to provide help to the family as soon as the omission process begin.

While the first vice president of the Assembly, Rosana Alvarado (AP), did not rule out the possibility of a veto from the Executive on the subject. “That is the issue on which the Government has been active in recent weeks … I would think on that point there may be some change,” said Alvarado.
