Radek Stepanek
Radek Stepanek became the champion of the Davis Cup after beating Nicolas Almagro from Spain by 6-4, 7-6 (0), 3-6, 6-3.
The Czech Republic is the first country to win, in the same year, three team competitions organized by the International Tennis Federation: the Hopman Cup, the Fed Cup and the Davis Cup (in its 100 edition). It has also been a finalist in the World Team Cup, ATP 250 tournament, which takes place in Dusseldorf (Germany).
Just nine days after his 34th birthday, Stepanek became the oldest player to win the decisive fifth point in the history of this competition.
