The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, and his wife, Lavinia Valbonesi, were received this Thursday at the Elysee Palace by the French Head of State, Emmanuel Macron, and his wife Brigitte. It is the last act of Noboa’s two-day visit to Paris, who continues his European tour in Spain after visiting Italy.
Noboa thanked Macron for France’s support and cooperation in Ecuador’s fight against transnational crime. Likewise, according to the social networks of the Ecuadorian Presidency, Noboa expressed interest in carrying out projects and investments with France in the economic, educational and cultural fields.
About 30 minutes late from the initial time, the Ecuadorian president and his wife met with their French hosts after completing a private agenda in Paris.
The meeting between both leaders was in the air until the last minute and was only officially confirmed by the Elysée this morning.
According to diplomatic sources, Macron has had scheduling problems due to the crisis in the overseas territory of New Caledonia, where a state of emergency has been declared.
On Wednesday, on his first day of an official visit to France, President Noboa held an intense round of interviews with businessmen and bankers with the goal of seeking investments and financing for Ecuador, which is going through a serious social crisis.
Among the ministers accompanying Noboa is the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador, Gabriela Sommerfeld; and that of Economy and Finance, Juan Carlos Vega.
