Daniela Almeida is the new Queen of Quito 2018 -2019

Daniela del Carmen Almeida, a 21 year old law student, is the Queen of Quito 2018-2019. The Metropolitan Convention Center, located in the Bicentennial Park, was the setting for the event that officially inaugurated the festivities for the 484years of Foundation of the capital.

 “Iam grateful and blessed for the opportunity to serve the city.” Those are the first words spoken by the Queen of the city. The work in a project focusedon addressing sexuality will be her north during the next year.

To the new Queen of Quito, nerves played a trick on her. When asked about the actions of the San Jose Board, she hesitated for seconds. After organizing the ideas she managed to respond that there are comprehensive care centers that treat older adults with dignity.

The program, the night of this November 22, began at the scheduled time: 8:00 p.m.Mi Quito, the new song that is part of the international promotion of the capital, sung by Ricardo Perotti. Dancers performed a choreography and, one by one, the 10 candidates presented themselves with their name, age and a greeting to the audience.

The event was scheduled for the attendance of 2,000 people. Three-quarters of the auditorium of the Metropolitan Convention Center, still with the tile floor,was filled. At each break, the bars of friends and family were lit.

The program was marked by musical interventions. In addition to Perotti, MirelaCesa, Israel Brito and Paulina Tamayo appeared before the audience.

This Old Guitar was the song that set the round of questions. More than one yieldedto nerves. The audience was generous and, with applause, encouraged them to finish their response. For about a month, the 10 candidates shared visits,interviews and presentations. In the end, only three, besides the Queen of Quito, won a mention. To accompany Almeida will be: Nancy Sarrade as Miss Patronato, Daniela Mosquera as Miss Confraternity and María Mercedes Granda as Miss Simpathy.

For this Friday, November 23, the first press conference of Daniela Almeida is planned as the sovereign of Quito. The first participation will be in the proclamation to be held in San Francisco, in the Historic Center. (I)
