Dispute in boxing after Pacquiao’s victory
After being catalogated by the U.S. press as a “controversial” fight, the comments about Filipino boxer, Manny Pacquiao triumph over Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez still occur with increasing force.
Pacquiao was crowned Welterweight Champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO)after winning his third meeting with Marquez by majority decision which generated the wrath of his Mexican challenger as well as thousands of supporters, while the press would consider the opposite result or tie.
After the fight, Pacquiao needed 28 stitches to close a cut on his right eyebrow product of a blow from Marquez.
While The New York Times once again indicates that there is a controversial fight without “clearing out the questions,” while for the newspaper The Wall Street Journal, it raises the question about which of the two was superior.
The Mexican press was emphatic is its headline: ‘Robbery in Las Vegas “(La Jornada),’ It was an injustice ‘(ESTO),’ Robbery in fight Pacquier vs Marquez (El Universal), ‘Neither Pacquiao believe it ‘, (Excelsior).
