Posted On 21 Jan 2013
Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic advanced to the quarter-finals of the Australia Open, after a grueling match against Stanislas Wawrinka, who was defeated in five sets (1-6, 7-5, 6-4, 6-7 and 12-10), one of the most competitive matches.
This is the fifteenth consecutive year that the current world No. 1 gets into the round of the last eight of a Grand Slam.
“We are half way through the tournament, but I felt like a final,” said Djokovic, who will face Czech Tomas Berdych, seeded fifth, in the next round.
Tennis players David Ferrer and Nicolas Almagro, both Spanish, besides Berdych, also advanced to the quarterfinals.
