Drug users, tried for microtrafficking
Posted On 05 Oct 2015
There are people accused of selling drugs, the same that are arrested. But after the trial, they are released by the judges after determining they are not traffickers but consumers.
Many people have gone through this situation. Between 2007 and 2013, the Public Defender said that 1143 detainees regained their freedom after the courts established they were not minor traffickers but drug addicts.
That line between a dependent or a drug dealer is now weaker. At the moment is in effect a punitive chart that states: people who have in their possession 1 gram of cocaine, 2 grams of cocaine paste or 0.1 grams of heroin can go to jail for up to three years.
