Ecuador Suffers an Outbreak of Wildfires

In the last nine days there have been hundreds of wildfires in Ecuador, especially in the Pichincha, Chimborazo, Azuay and El Oro provinces.
In the Chilla canton, located southeast of El Oro province, dozens of firefighters in the area worked to extinguish the fire affecting the forests around this town in southern Ecuador.
According to El Oro firefighters, it is calculated that every hour, the smoke affects four pine or cypress trees.
Meanwhile at Quito, fires were reported today in the area adjacent to the Mitad del Mundo and the Panecillo. Firefighters managed to control the fire, according to preliminary reports. (MZ)
