Ecuador will sue bankers over mortgage crisis
After 6 days touring Europe, President Rafael Correa presented programs to accomplish the return of compatriots living abroad, during his weekly presentation which was aired from Valencia, Spain, he announced, regarding the evictions, that they will take legal actions to support affected Ecuadorians due to the mortgages, including lawsuits against bankers responsible for the crisis.
The President announced the projects to encourage the return of compatriots with several plans. The Land Plan organizes business plans through agriculture. In Murcia, Madrid, Barcelona and two more Spanish cities, the project has developed 14 headquarters, in which specialized Ecuadorians work on issues of agriculture and finance, who will receive, when they return, 3,000 acres of land in Santa Elena and Manabi.
The Health Plan “I’ll be back for you” is the project destined to the return of medical professionals. In Spain there are already 867 Ecuadorian doctors and 129 foreign doctors enrolled, and the Return Education Plan proposes the return of teachers in all academic areas. Only in Spain, there are 800 registered educators.
The President said that there are more support programs and cited as an example, the scholarship system, which educate 5000 Ecuadorians in foreign universities.
