Ecuador wins the descent of the ‘mountain bike’
Ecuador won the South American Championship of Mountaine Bike (mountain biking), in the modality of descent.
The competition was fulfilled last weekend, avoiding the bad weather that afflicts the area, and the victories of the tricolor team started in the open elite category with Kevin Hidalgo, from Baños, who completed the course by 8 minutes and 16 seconds. ; while the second place was occupied by Carlos Alberto Noboa, from Ambato, with 8 m 42.7 s; and Érick Bastidas, from Baños, with 8 m 50.7 s, finished third.
In open master, Baños again reached the top, this time with Álex Chávez, who set 8m 4.5s to win the series; while Mauricio Paredes, from Ambato, was second, by 8m 23.5s.
David Llangari, from the Adrenalina S / R club, was the winner in the rigid open series, after scoring 7m 51.3s; the second box was occupied by the manabi Victor Bone, with 8 m 49 s.
Baños returned to the top of the podium. On this occasion with Ariel Carrera, who won in open junior; the second locker was for his teammate Axel Barrionuevo.
In open ladies, Tamia Barrionuevo became the best at 15m 57.3s time in her descent; left the second place to Allison Karol León, of Quito, with 18 m 10.5s.
In the elite, junior, cadet and masters series there were competitors from Ecuador, Peru and Chile, where the tricolors prevailed in the four series.
José Francisco Vargas, from Ecuador was the winner in the elite with a record of 5 m 27.8 s; while his compatriot Mario José Jarrín, with 5 m 32 s, took the silver medal; and Juan Andrés Jurado, finished third with 5 m 52 s.
On the other hand, the runners Marco Padilla, in junior; Marcelo Josué Vasco, in cadets; and Franklin Ramiro Iza, in masters, were placed first of each of their series.
