Ecuadorian Active Military, drug gang leader
Lieutenant Franklin Torres, head of the Narcotics Unit of Santa Elena, confirmed yesterday that Ronald Fernando Cordova Manosalvas, active duty military, is the leader of the drug gang that was arrested last Monday during the Danubio Azul Operative, held in Santa Elena, in which 576.6 kilos of cocaine, valued at $ 30 million, were seized.
Torres did not reveal exactly where in the city, the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the drug, is being held. However, once the evaluation is completed, the drug will be destroyed after the Prosecutor’s Office receives notification from the magistrate.
Oswaldo Zapata, chief judge of Criminal and Traffic of the province, said the preliminary investigation will last for 30 days, and after that period it is up to the prosecution to give a date for convening a hearing to deal with the detainees, including Cordova. (MZ)
