Ecuadorians May Retire in Spain
Posted On 30 Jun 2011
Spain and Ecuador began an agreement allowing emigrants to retire in any of the two countries and recognizes the contributions made in the past, said yesterday the president of the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS), Ramiro Gonzalez.
The official said the “agreement” was signed last week in Madrid by the IESS and the Ministry of Social Security of Spain.
He added that the agreement will benefit some 600 000 Ecuadorians residing legally in Spain. Gonzalez recalled that last week in Quito he also signed the Social Security Iberoamerican Convention, so that Ecuadorians will have access to benefits in this area in Spain, Bolivia and Brazil.
