Ecuadorians must meet requirements to enter Mexico

Ecuadorian citizens must meet “certain requirements” to enter Mexico after that country has eliminated visas for tourism, transit, business or any unpaid activity, reported this Wednesday, December 5, 2018, the Foreign Ministry of Ecuador.

In a statement he explained that this decision of the National Institute of Migration (INM) of Mexico is motivated by the desire to ensure a”safe” stay in the North American country.

Among the requirements, it is found that the Ecuadorian citizen has a valid passport and has the multiple migratory form, with the corresponding data.

At the same time, you can request the reason why you travel to Mexico through documents such as hotel reservation, itinerary tickets or return tickets to Ecuador.

“In addition, a letter in Spanish language of the parent company, subsidiary or foreign subsidiary, indicating that the foreigner is an employee and that the payment of services that will be provided in the national territory will be on their own account,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility.

In the event that the citizen comes to Mexico to participate in any unpaid activity,it will be required to “have a letter of invitation from the public or private organization or institution” in which the object and estimated time of his / her stay in the country.

When dealing with courses, studies or research projects or training, you must have a letter of invitation or acceptance from an institution of the national education system, and the stay could never exceed 180 days.

Ecuadorian nationals must also keep in mind the reason for the trip, the place of habitual residence or origin, the address and time of stay in the Mexican territory, as well as the contact details of the person who invites them into the territory.

They must also indicate the name, denomination or business name and address of the individual or legal entity that invites him, the activities to which he / she is engaged in the country of origin (Ecuador) and those that he / she will carry out in Mexican territory, and the means of subsistence during the stay in Mexican territory, in addition to the Multiple Migratory Form (FMM).

Mexico last week eliminated the visa requirement for Ecuadorians who decide to visitthat country to carry out unpaid activities, which include tourism andparticipation in academic events, among others.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the measure obeys the political will of the governments of both nations and received in October the impulse of the president, Lenin Moreno, when he ratified a bilateral memorandum of understanding to”implement mechanisms for verification of information for immigration purposes.” (I)
