Ecuadorians will vote in the Municipal Elections
The municipal elections in Spain will be performed on May 22, so far only a 13% of the 350,000 foreigners expressed their desire to vote. According to the data of the National Institute of Statistics (INE) of Spain, only 45,554 immigrants registered for the election census.
Meanwhile the office of the Electoral Census sent personalized letters to all the foreigners that live in Spain. The immigrants registered belong to Ecuador (22,213), Colombia (11,195), Peru (5,365), Bolivia (4,209), Chile (1,131), Norway (790), Paraguay (574), New Zealand (31), Iceland (24), and Cabo Verde (22).
According to the report of Juan Bravo, deputy of the City Hall, the Madrid Community hosts a large number of these immigrants, and only 570 foreigners registered to vote on the next municipal elections.
