Judge Diaz Primo Resigned the Second Criminal Court

This evening, Primo Diaz Garaycoa, the judge in charge of El Universo case presented his resignation to teh Second Criminal Chamber, which is the courtroom that handles de lawsuit filed by the Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa against newspaper El Universo.

This change caused the untimely protest of Xavier Zavala, lawyer of the newspaper, Zavala argued that if the hearing was scheduled for that date, “the preparation has to be on October 4″, and could not be possible “to make the defendants feel anxious because of a unconstitutional hearing planned in 24 hours.”
