The Venezuelan Information Minister, Ernesto Villegas, read a statement about the health of his country’s leader, Hugo Chavez, and said he “is currently in a strong treatment. The patient cooperates with the treatment closely with the medical team.”
After two months of intensive care in a complicated postoperative, Chavez is alert and in constant communication with his administration. “The respiratory infection has been controlled but there is a degree of failure. Given the circumstances, currently President Chavez can breath through a tracheal cannula,” said Villegas.
The images published of the Venezuelan president serve to demonstrate that Hugo Chavez is alive and even reading the Cuban newspaper Granma.
