Extra daily defended itself from the SUPERCOM
Yesterday was the substantiation hearinf for Diario Extra, wherein the SUPERCOM opened a new proceeding against the newspaper for alleged breach of ethical rules on the morbid treatment of a publication of July 31, 2015.
In the story, published in the front page, are shown the photographs of a woman, from Guayaquil, who was a victim of violence and whose face was burned with acid.
At the hearing the arguments of the Journal and the institution were presented, which denounces and, at the same time, judges the fact, as well as the rebuttal evidence of both parties.
The lawyers of the newspaper, Johnny de la Pared and Priscilla Falconi, explained that Extra published the photos at the request of the father of the woman attacked with his permission. The daily denied there was a morbid treatment in the publication, as the technical and legal report of the Supercom says. “The photos were shown because the victim and her family wanted to put on record what happened to prevent impunity and so authorities could prevent the public about these cases,” the lawyers argued.
