Ecuador’s victory over the Portuguese (3-2) in Guimaraes remains world news. Soccer experts have highlighted the Ecuadorian soccer team progress and performance of its brave players.

The positive scoring for Ecuadorians not only corroborated the good time that the TRI-color is living within the South American qualifiers for Brazil World Cup 2014, in which it but ranks second, also affected the Portuguese team pride, which had forgotten what it was to be defeated in their own country by a South American team, which haven’t happened for 30 years.

Therefore,  millionaire star Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored a beautiful goal for his team, had no other choice to shower and leave the field before the match culminated, after being replaced at minute 61.

Moreover, the sports media showed no mercy when assessing the game. Most emphasized the great participation of Ecuadorian defender Felipe Caicedo and performance of the amazing Antonio Valencia.

The newspaper A Bola titled: “Paulo Bento finally saw Caicedo score’, referring to the winning goal scored by the tri-color player, who in the 2009-2010 season was led by Bento, Portugal’s current Coach in Sporting Lisbon, where “Filipao” didn’t shine at all.

Same media alleged that the TRI-color team left Portugal squat “through the back door while Caicedo and Bento paths crossed” in Guimaraes; sitting in the bench, Portuguese Coach “finally saw the irregular Caicedo score.”

Daily El Correo also highlighted the Caicedo’s feat on its cover, headlining “Caicedo spoiled Cristiano Ronaldo’s birthday”, who 24 hours after losing against Ecuador turned 27 years old.

For the newspaper “was not enough the suicide (referring to Joao Pereira’s own goal, at minute 62), but  eighteen minutes before the end of the game, emerged Caicedo´s bomb, “What seemed a quiet winter night turned into a collective nightmare. Unbearable”, quoted the newspaper Ultimas Noticias, and ended: “Do you remember Caicedo? Former forward player from the Sporting, took the empty space and licked a withering goal”.
