Fidel Márquez recommends to eliminate subsidies
The rector of the Ecotec College, Fidel Márquez, in an interview with Ecuavisa said that dollarization imposed a discipline in the country that did not exist before, “and that eventually has led us to create a stronger middle class.”
The analyst considers that in this time of international crisis in which the country has a super-hard currency and in the context of a change in the production and energy matrix, this should lead us -once and for all- “to stop this disastrous oil dependency.”
In that scenario the government has to review the possibility of eliminating certain subsidies: On the foreign debt, he said that we must rethink what kind of debt is right for the country and he did not hesitate to recommend the government to resort to international bodies for cheaper loans.
