Germany highlights Ecuador’s support for Venezuelans
Ecuadornews:

The Head of State Lenin Moreno gave an award to the German president, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, with the National Order of Merit in the Grand Collar degree. Germany recognized the way Ecuador treated the diaspora of Venezuelans since 2018.
On Wednesday, February 13, President Lenin Moreno received his German counterpart, Frank Walter Steinmeier, at the Carondelet Palace. His journey through the country contemplates the Galapagos Islands. For this formal visit, the presidential seat, as usual, was recieved with Ecuadorian flowers, the flags of both countries and with a red carpet.
Over there, Steinmeier traveled to the Yellow Room, on the second floor. The space was small due to the presence of German journalists, who through English and signs sought to accommodate their work teams. At the same time, Moreno and his wife, Rocío González, were in charge of giving a short guide to their German counterparts in the Carondelet corridors. The humor of the Ecuadorian president stole more than a smile from Steinmeier.
In the official event, the German president was decorated with the National Order of Merit in the Grand Collar degree, in honor of the 250 years of the birth of the scientist Alexander Von Humboldt. In his speech, he congratulated Ecuador for its “generosity and solidarity” with the Venezuelan migrants who enter the country fleeing the economic, social, humanitarian and political crisis. There are 250,000 Venezuelans residing in Ecuador.
According to the Foreign Ministry, every day an average of 800 migrants enter from that country through the international bridge Rumichaca, in Carchi. “I express my appreciation for the leadership that you (Moreno) promotes at the level of your national and international policy.
That radiates to the whole region, “stressed the European leader. Moreno, however, stressed that the relationship between the two nations is excellent. He noted that the Government is working to conclude a trade agreement with Germany, the fourth world power.
According to the Vice Presidency, there is a cooperation agreement between Ecuador and Germany for $ 55’199,000 between 2018 and 2020. For this country, the Bavarian nation of 83 million inhabitants is the fifth largest trading partner in the European Union (EU) when importing fish, coffee, cocoa and shrimp. Moreno urged Steinmeier to join the support of Spain to obtain visa exemption in the Schengen area for short stays (90 days).
To achieve this goal, Ecuador must await the results of the European elections on May 26, 2019. There a new European Parliament will be constituted. With this, this country will expose its position to new officials on visas.
The parliamentary republic system rules in Germany
Unlike the United States and Latin America, where presidential systems predominate, Germany is a parliamentary republic. In this sense, the figure of the president of the nation is more formal; It has the right to veto, but not stop any law, that is, it can only be passed to the Federal Constitutional Court, which verifies if the law is constitutional.
The federal President is elected by a majority of the votes of the Federal Assembly. Once appointed (can be re-elected once) the Assembly is dissolved. The President can attend public, social and cultural events, make speeches, visits to the Federated States and municipalities, abroad and receive foreign official guests.
On the other hand, the Executive Power is the regulatory body of the policy of Germany, and receives the name of the Federal Government, headed by the Chancellor (currently Angela Merkel). It is elected by the deputies of the Parliament and marks the political lines. He presides over meetings of the government cabinet and takes command of the Armed Forces, in case of attack on the country. (I)
