Case of Glas Viejo reaches IACHR

On September 19, the attorneys Pedro Granja and Juan Vizueta went to the American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) headquarters to denounce the Ecuadorian State for the negligence of the judicial system in the case against Jorge Heriberto Glas Viejo, the alleged rapist of a minor.

During their visit to Washington, the attorneys emphasized the responsibility of the Ecuadorian State in this case.

“The case remained with an unacceptable impunity for a whole year until, and would have been filed definitely without intervention of the Human Rights Commission of Guayas, Bar Association and the support of the independent press towards this of sexual abuse and torture of a child with limited resources,” pointed out Pedro Granja.
