Government will require a Criminal Record Certificate from foreigners on the borders of Peru and Colombia
The Ministry of the Interior reported that foreigners will be required to present the Criminal Record Certificate from their country of origin at the borders of Peru and Colombia. The decision was released this Thursday, January 11, 2024, through the X account of the State portfolio.
The statement informs Ministerial Agreement 007, “while the state of emergency and recognition of the internal armed conflict lasts, in order to prevent and control the entry of individuals who constitute a threat or risk to public safety.”
In this framework, the Undersecretariat of Immigration and other organizations will request this document from foreign citizens “who enter through the borders of Peru and Colombia to present the Certificate of Criminal Record from the country of origin or residence during the last five years, duly apostilled. ”.
Furthermore, it is indicated that the Undersecretariat must issue operational guidelines that facilitate compliance with this requirement.
