Goya Awards: “Snow White”, favorite with 18 nominations

“Blanca Nieves” (Snow White) and “Grupo 7” lead the list of favorite movies for the next edition of the Goya Awards that will take place on February 17 at the Principe Felipe Conference Centre in Madrid.
Freely adapted from the stories of the Grimm Brothers, a mute film, and shot in black and white, “Blancanieves” (Snow White) is the most nominated film of the Spanish Awards with 18 nominations.
However, the thriller “Grupo 7” follows it with 16 nominations for best picture and direction.
“Lo Imposible” by Juan Antonio Bayona and “El artista y la modelo” by Fernando Trueba, are other films competing for the Spanish statuette.
The Iberoamerican film nomination list is headed by Paraguayan movie ” Siete cajas ” directed by Juan Carlos Maneglia and Tana Schémbori, followed by Cuban comedy ” Juan de los muertos” by Alejandro Brugues, that tells the story of a zombie invasion in Havana.
The nominees for best European picture are the French “Untouchable” by Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache; “In the House” by François Ozon; “Rust and Bone” by Jacques Audiard and Britain’s “Shame” by Steve McQueen.
