Yesterday, Quito suffered a heavy downpour which was accompanied by  thunderstorms and caused flooding in the streets, side steps and crossings of different areas of the city.

Also several cantons of Manabi, like Santa Ana, Portoviejo and Chone suffered the ravages of a strong storm.

In Santa Ana, about 100 families were affected by flooding in their homes, causing millionaire economic losses due to the overflowing of the Mamey, and El Platano  rivers that are born in the mountains of the parish Union located in the Santa Ana canton, 60 km. to the East from Portoviejo.

Likewise, in Guayaquil the downpour that fell at 19h30 was accompanied by lightning and thunders which caused a large vehicular congestion in several areas of the city.

Despite the statements made by the National Institute of meteorology and hydrology (Inamhi), that said the precipitations will last until last month, rains are still taking the citizens by surprise, who were not carrying an umbrella or raincoats to protect themselves from the heavy rain in many areas of Guayaquil.
