Hogar de Cristo project "Bank of Resources"
Five years ago the Inter-American Development Bank asked Fundacion Hogar de Cristo (Christ’s Home Foundation) the creation of a project to support social and financial services. Brother Roberto Costa was the main responsible for handling the task.
Afterwards Jaime Jaramillo the Manager of Social Housing and Habitat of Fundacion Hogar de Cristo attended a program of Fundacion Sagrada Familia in Buenos Aires, Argentina. From this training came the initiative that created the Bank of Resources in 2005. However, the funds came from the Gandia Town Hall in Spain.
The initiative of the project allowed Fundacion Hogar de Cristo offer good quality materials to improve the lifestyle of their partners. The partners of the Bank of Resources are all the people that are actively participating in a credit program of 36 months and pay all the bills of their houses.
The Bank of Resources has more than three years helping people to improve their lives. During its first year his work grew with the construction of a shed along with Universidad Catolica to develop the eco materials. Afterwards they began to receive donated material in the months of January and February of 2011. Thanks to a big donation from the construction company Edimka they could start their activities correctly.
They obtain donations by their connections and contacts; they also have a department of catchments to receive more support. For their humanitarian work the Foundation has a place in all the fairs that promote similar activities. In this space they show the work of the Bank of Resources and the programs they have.
The purpose of the Bank of Resources is to be a gatherer of solidarity, in which people can help mutually by delivering things they do not need to those that can give them use. Around 155 partners attend the Bank of Resources every month.
The vision of Fundacion Hogar de Cristo with the work they do with the Bank of Resources is to improve the use eco materials in new technologies in order to offer them to their partners. (AV)
