Hostilities in Syria Damage the UN Truce
Today Syrian soldiers opened fire to disperse the crowd of protesters, activists and the state media reported a deadly roadside bomb explosion. This recent violent actions defy international efforts to calm the country’s crisis.
Demonstrators left from mosques onto the streets in cities and towns across Syria while demanding the fall of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. After the regime armed response, the Local Coordination Committees, reported a total of 36 casualties.
State television informed that 10 security personnel perished by a roadside bomb planted by “terrorists” in Sahm al Golan village in the southwest of the country.
So far the government and the opposition blame each other for violating the truce of the six-point peace plan for Syria. (AV)
