Hugo Chavez denounced for Crimes Against Humanity

Diego Arria, Venezuela’s presidential pre-candidate, denounced president primer Venezuela, Hugo Chavez to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague for alleged crimes against humanity.

Arria gave to ICC prosecutor, Luis Moreno Ocampo, over 600 pages of documentation, 500 interviews to victims, audiovisual documentation, and some 40 pages of Chavez’s own words “testing” forced displacement, killings and torture and asked the international community to “stop the criminal actions of the regime of Hugo Chavez” before is “Too late.”

Now, the ICC must consider its admissibility, but until now has never upheld a complaint by an individual.

Arria was governor, minister and ambassador of Venezuela for the UN, prior to Chavez’s government.
