In less than a month, CNE staff will review 2.5 million signatures
The National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) will review, in less than a month (until August 18), 2’530.000 signatures submitted by national and provincial political organizations that want to have a legal status.
The reception process of signatures before approval and authorization to participate in the elections of 2017 ended on Monday.
Only in the last three days 1.5 million signatures, which add up to 1 million that were already submitted to the CNE until last week were delivered.
Of these, the Adelante Ecuatoriano Adelante party, led by businessman Alvaro Noboa, submitted five groups of signatures on the same day but at different times; The same happened with the Juntos Podemos movement, which submitted two groups.
The signature review process is carried out at the premises of the old Army Supermarket, with the participation of 80 typists, who begin their working day (8 hours) at 08:00. The CNE gave way to each organization to send their observers.
The National Director of Political Organizations Fidel Ycaza said that these days the schedule to review the signatures submitted in recent days will be made public, but said that this will be done according to the order of arrivals.
