International Media supports HOY Newspaper
The union Periódicos Asociados Latinoamericanos (PAL), which brings together 19 international print media, made a claim for “the loss of freedoms in Ecuador and the continuous attacks and restrictions on the press,” which, they consider, caused the suspension of the printed edition of the HOY Newspaper.
“A new edition of Hoydigital, with a print edition every weekend, will continue to struggle for justice and freedom and defending the principles respected from its birth: independence, honesty and pluralism,” said the PAL statement.
HOY’s decision was also supported by the Asociaciones Latinoamericanas e Internacionales de Prensa, which includes the World Association of Newspappers (Wan Infra); Colombian newspapers associations (Andiarios), the Nacional de Prensa (ANP) of Chile, the Entidades Periodísticas Argentinas (Adepa); the Nacional de Periódicos de Brasil and the Consejo de la Prensa Peruana.
