It is possible that negotiations with EU are resumed in September
The Foreign Minister of Ecuador, Ricardo Patino, said that in about three months the country would be prepared to begin the agreements with the European Union (EU) looking forward to a trade agreement.
“It is expected that April, May, June will be enough time to finish the discussions of these issues and that negotiations can start” , said the official, who added that they will have to wait the return from the holidays (July-August) of the Europeans.
Patino, also said that “if things progress”, they want the negotiations to start next September, and the first step will be to send a communication to the representative of the EU in Quito, to tell them that Ecuador wants to sit down and talk.
Henry Kronfle, President of the Ecuadorian Business Committee (EEC), accepted the expressions of Patiño, and expects that by the first quarter of 2014 agreement is sealed.
