Lasso says that Moreno has the moral duty to ask Glas to withdraw
Ecuadornews:
CREO’s former presidential hopeful Guillermo Lasso has stated in an interview with Daily Expreso that President Lenin Moreno should ask Vice President Jorge Glas “to leave.” “I think Moreno has an obligation to protect the national decency. And he has to take positions. And respond to the country. And tell us whether he supports Jorge Glas or the anti-corruption fight. He has to choose. And ask Glas to leave because he is a harm to the government,” said Lasso.
Lasso has said that the lifting of the reserve in the trial against Jorge Rivera (uncle of Jorge Glas), accused of taking bribes from the Odebrecht company, “is not an important gesture.” “It should never have been under stealth. It is a response to the pressure of public opinion: What is the privilege of this man? To be the uncle of the vice president? In a country where democracy reigns, obviously, the Legislature would not be wasting time with qualifying political trials, it would have dismissed the official.” (I).
