Lenín Moreno recognizes Juan Guaidó as president of Venezuela

President Lenin Moreno of Ecuador published a video making official the position of the country on the pronouncement of the National Assembly of Venezuela. “Ecuador predicts that the new interim president, within the framework of the law, will call as soon as possible to free and transparent elections, with broad international observation,” he said.

The Ecuadorian president is at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The announcement was made after a meeting in which the presidents of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro; Colombia, Iván Duque; Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado; and the vice president of Peru, Mercedes Aráoz.

Through his Twitter account, Sebastián Piñera, president of Chile also assumed this position. (I)
