Mery Zamora Faces Trial Over Terrorism
Posted On 27 Aug 2012
Mery Zamora, former president of the National Union of Educators (UNE for its Spanish acronym), must attend criminal court to stand trial for the alleged crime of terrorism and sabotage, after the events of September 30, 2010 (30-S).
The case began in November 2010 and last May took place the filing hearing of charges against Zamora.
Zamora was accused of having encouraged students from the Aguirre Abad Highschool of Guayaquil to participate in the 30-S protest.
Mery Zamora’s defense does not preclude presenting international actions, because, according to the defense, there is evidence of a “clear political persecution“. MZ
