Ecuadortimes:
With a 1:52-minute video, Michael J. Fitzpatrick announced that this week he began his work as U.S. Ambassador to Ecuador.
“My wife and I are very excited to be in Quito,” he said in the audiovisual, which summarizes his activities and more than 30 years of experience.
Since 2016, Fitzpatrick has served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs.
He was also the U.S. representative to the Organization of American States (OAS) and has served, according to his career as a diplomat, in Colombia, the Philippines, Kenya, Paraguay and Peru.
“In recent years we have made great strides, and I worked hard to deepen the ties that have historically united our citizens for the benefit of both nations,” he said.
Fitzpatrick said he wants to climb the Cotopaxi volcano and visit the Galapagos Islands. (I)
