Monica Chuji presents an extraordinary action of protection to demand damage reparation because of damages against her.

Chuji along to her legal representative, Julio César Trujillo, reached the 14th Court of Criminal Guarantees of Pichincha in order to send her pretition to the Constitutional Court (CC).

The former official of the Government is asking for financial compensation due to moral damages but she is also asking President Correa for public apologises for a statement said in one of his Saturday tv broadcasts.

Vinicio Alvarado, secretary of the Administration, accused Chuji for having said in an interview with a media, that he is a “new rich”. According to Alvarado the statement given by Chuji were understood by some people as a kind of enrichment obtained from his office, to which he declined sharply. In November 2011, Chuji was sentenced to one year in prison and ordered to pay $100,000 in compensation, so Alvarado said he forgave her.
