Nebot Accuses Exitpoll of Fraud in the Referendum Vote Counting

Posted On 17 Aug 2019

This morning, Jaime Nebot, Mayor of Guayaquil, chided the current administration to deceive Ecuadorians to use his polling, a “rigged Exit Poll, to broadcast a landslide victory of the Yes, in the last referendum.

Nebot said: “Every serious and Democratic Ecuadorian rejects this disinformation maneuver. Later the quick count revealed that in a national level, a very tight result happend. In the actual count that outcome begins to look even better, for option “no.” Likewise, in Guayaquil he said “no” won in questions 3, 4, 5, 7 and 9.” This is the result of the count, we performed it technically, based on the actual voting records (…). ”

According Nebot, the results were:

•        In question 3 on the prohibition of financial institutions and media owners to have equity participation in other companies, “no” is 45.83%, while “yes” is 45.30% ,
