Nebot dredge rocky area without consent of Correa
Jaime Nebot, Mayor of Guayaquil, said dredging carried eleven meters at low tide rocky area of Los Goals and, according to a document that the mayor sent yesterday to President Rafael Correa is not necessary to reform the concession agreement between the Port Authority of Guayaquil (APG) and Contecon (the dealer.)
“Nebot I wanted was that we transfer the skills and competencies he could charge fees and do what you want, and we are not going to do (…) If you want to finance the dredging Nebot, is your problem, but we have to reform the contract, so he will have to talk to Contecon , ask us reform the contract and happy, the next day we signed the reform, ” the president said in his last sabatina.
In this regard, Nebot clarified that the dredging of the rocky area is not part of the concession agreement between APG and Contecon, or the dredging between APG and the Navy, so that the Municipality of Guayaquil could run directly and independently the work.
Correa also marked that the City should have the “respective environmental license from the Ministry of Environment, because this is an environmental attack.” However, Nebot explained that the contract was not necessary to obtain the environmental license, but the updated Environmental Management Plan. “Exactly so will the municipality,” said the mayor.
