New Zealand North Island Shaken By 6.2 Quake

Today a large earthquake rocked New Zealand’s North Island, so far no damage has been reported. The long seism had a magnitude of 6.5 magnitude, which was felt more strongly at 60km southwest of Opunake in Taranaki at a depth of 257 km.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey the magnitude-6.2 quake was centered about 105 km south of New Plymouth on New Zealand’s North Island.
The quake was felt hundreds of kilometres away in Christchurch, meanwhile a Fire Service Central Communications spokesman informed that there were a great number of calls but no reports of damage. (AV)
