Niños con Futuro Foundation: Meal, Education and, Christian Formation
“Su Cambio por Mi Cambio” (His change for my change,) was the first name for Niños con Futuro Foundation, instituted by Lillian Wright and Father José Gómez Izquierdo in 1996. Two years later they became legally and in 2000 they changed its name to “Niños con Furuto” (Children with Future.)
Today, Niños con Futuro Foundation has instituted a comprehensive school called “Felipe Costa VonBuchwald” which has 320 pupils (elementary school), equipped with computer labs, chemistry, English library and a dining room. This school takes on a monthly minimum of $ 6 for juniors and $ 10 for high school. However, there are special cases of students that have scholarships.
Isabel Aguirre, director of the foundation, explains that for them the main thing is to give children and their families a better quality of life by strengthening its values and principles.
One of the most admirable features of this institution is its desire to turn their students into good citizens. That’s why we not only provide them with an excellent academic education, moral and spiritual, but are also trained through workshops, electronic, carpentry and beauty, where the goal is to enhance the skills of young people ensuring a working tool for future providing artisans securities after completion of high school.
Niños con Futuro Foundation is also working on the psychological development of students and their families in order to strengthen family ties through work parties, workshops, activities in the school canteen and other tasks.
“We want parents to know better their home, but we all have to pull together the car for their children so that they can really make a good living,” says Isabel.
