Noboa Made a Call for Unity Among Ecuadorians
Alvaro Noboa addressed Ecuador today in a press conference to express his opinion concerning the problem the country is facing in the counting of votes after the referendum held on Saturday, May 7. In this regard, Noboa told the country that this is the time to ask to open the polls and request a vote by vote count.
“We have to work on consensus, not only find majorities, but to seek consensus with the people of left with the right, with the center, to create a new country, so that this spirit of victory, of (…) progress in Ecuador, and which has been shown on Saturday at the polls, will serve to illuminate our way to live,” he said.
Noboa said that in the country there have been cases of fraud in many governments and recalled in particular about the latest one which was “in 2006 when I won the last elections to economist Correa. It is known that in Ecuador there has been fraud before and there is fraud now. “
Referring to data released by the Exit Poll he said that “any fraud begins with bad polls and the polls said he was winning. “
“He has to completely change his strategy (…) The new Ecuador is an Ecuador where there is job, freedom, justice, where we can walk down the streets without any fear, where we have everything we need.”
Noboa said that Chile, Brazil, and Spain have succeeded through good policy. “It is possible to turn this country into a great country,” he said.
“It makes no more than three years we did a new constitution and now we want to reform it. All these could have been easily addressed at the assembly or congress. To help a country to move forward it is not possible to work with most of the people of the country, but with everyone,” he said.
