North Korean Rocket-Launch is Condemned by the UN
The UN Security Council has expressed its contempt towards North Korea’s failed rocket launch saying it’s a violation of council resolutions. The Council also warned that it would taker further action in the event of a new missile launch or nuclear test.
All 15 council members approved the statement made on Monday by the UN. Since last Friday’s failed launch that was described as “a serious violation” of UN sanctions.
The meeting asked the council to consider sanctions for North Korea, it is expected that within the next 15 days, adding new firms and individuals to its sanctions blacklist. This could mean that North Korea be banned from importing.
The current UN blacklist of sanctioned firms and individuals includes those related to Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile industries. (AV)
