Ochoa and Espín process their asylum in Bolivia, says Romo

The Minister of the Interior, María Paula Romo, confirmed that the former Superintendent of Communication, Carlos Ochoa, and the former ruling party, Sofía Espín, required by the Ecuadorian Justice, are in Bolivia probably arranging asylum.
“I can confirm that we have information that both Mr. Carlos Ochoa and Mrs. Sofía Espín are in Bolivia and that they would be taking steps to request asylum,” Romo said on the afternoon of January 31, after her appearance before the Sovereignty Commission.
The official said that they will take the respective actions to inform the Bolivian government that the two people are currently required by the Justice of Ecuador. The Superintendent of the Supercom, who has been leaving the country since October 2018, has a prison order in a case that investigates the alleged crime of forgery of a document (Communication Law) to punish the press, while the other, who also has an arrest warrant for failing to appear before the judicial authority, is followed by a process of course influence peddling.
Romo was required before the Sovereignty Commission to explain her actions as command Civil in the case of the citizen victimized by her partner in the city of Ibarra in the presence of a group of policemen, whose action has been questioned for not avoiding femicide.
The Secretary of State indicated that the governorates have been instructed to take charge of the judicial sponsorship of police officers involved in acts of progressive use of force. (I)
