“Since I was captured God was with me, (…) I had tranquility and patience. I wasn’t afraid to die,” said Orlando Ibarra.
On August of 2010, Orlando Sigifredo Ibarra Sarmiento was kidnapped by a band of criminals in Ipiales, Carchi. Afterwards he was sol to the National Liberation Army (ELN for its Spanish acronym) in Colombian territory.
Ibarra was in the hands of the Colombian guerrilla for 770 days, more than two years. “The first 48 days I was totally chained up,” pointed out the former hostage.
