In view of the overflowing of the Misahuallí River in the Archidona canton, Napo province, the Risk Management Secretariat (SGR) carried out the needs assessment and determined that "no damages were reported in either people or homes". The flow of the river returned to its normal channel and the drinking water service and normal activities in the locality were restored.
The overflow of the Misahuallí River was registered on August 4, 2018, in the face of heavy rains in the Amazon. The local authorities declared the emergency in the city of Archidona. According to local agencies, the overflow was most evident in the Cotundo parish.
Although the flooding of the river left houses flooded and forced to evict the houses, according to the SGR there are no victims to regret. According to reports from residents of the area, enclosures and crops were affected by the growing of this tributary.
Last Monday, the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Ecuador (Inamhi) warned about a sudden entry of cold air from the south of the continent, which would affect the Amazon with persistent rain and thunderstorms, and could even affect with drizzle in the Mountain range. (I)
