Patino and Hague will meet to discuss the Assange case
Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino, confirmed on Monday that he will meet with his counterpart from the United Kingdom, William Hague, on Monday June 17 in London, to study the situation and possible solution of the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, who is a month away of turning one year of asylum in the Embassy of Ecuador in the city.
“We hope that the meeting with the British Foreign Secretary, William Hague, allow to see a way out Assange asylum case,” said Patino from his Twitter account.
The Ecuadorian Foreign Minister will also visit Assange, in the Ecuadorian embassy, where he remains inn asylum since August 16. While a spokesman for the Foreign Office confirmed being informed of Patino‘s visit to London, adding that he hopes the meeting “furthers our mutual commitment to seek a diplomatic solution to this issue.”
Currently the Ecuadorian authorities seek to get assurances from the UK and Sweden that there will not be a second extradition, regarding this Assange said that if this was the case he would turn himself to the British authorities.
