Pedro Vargas revealed that he gave the same texts to other students

Jorge Glas defends his thesis
Yesterday a ten-page document was released in the on the website http://www.apoyorc.com, Pedro Vargas, director of the thesis presented by Jorge Glas, now running for the vice presidency of Alianza País, strongly denied the allegations of the supposed academic plagiarism.
Vargas, a professor at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (Espol) since 1976, explained that there are three ways to obtain the title: graduate thesis (theoretical framework and practical simulations), graduate seminars (practical work classes) and the technical report (professional and practical work).
Glas chose the third way, according to Vargas, “The technical report (based on a professional job) needed no theoretical framework. The report is a practical application of academic knowledge and skills learned in class,” also added that the work of Glas with his teammate Luis Calle, was “the practical implementation of a theory known for over half a century.”
Before the charges, Jorge Glas gave a press conference at the Dan Carlton hotel in Quito and said that he gave them a period of 48 hours, so that everyone that accuse him of plagiarism start a appropriate investigation by the prosecution, adding “prove that my thesis, my network design has been copied.” The candidate, who did not answer questions from the press, said that in case there are no charges in the time-period, he would initiate a legal action to defend his good name.
