Peru Police officers ordered to dismiss gays

The National Police of Peru (PNP for its Spanish acronym ordered to expel from its ranks that have romantic relationships that affect institutional image. President Ollanta Humala declined to comment on the issue.
This new regulation of the PNP states that the officers who have sexual relationships with people of the same sex and cause a scandal that resulting in damage to the image of the institution, shall be punished by dismissal.
This topic sparked criticism across the country, even by the government, while local media filled the front pages with this topic after this Tuesday after the controversial regulation, approved by decree, was published in the official gazette El Peruano.
This same statute provides that policemen having extramarital heterosexual relationships with co-workers and generate scandal will receive a penalty of two to six days.
